PATIENT CARE
Office Visits: Dos and Don'ts
Due to the current COVID-19 pandemic, we have changed our office policies in accordance with the recommendations from the BC Provincial Health Officer, Dr. Bonnie Henry.
-
Please DO NOT come to the office if you have any of the following symptoms within the last 10 days including: fever, chills, cough or worsening of chronic cough, shortness of breath, sore throat, runny nose, loss of sense of smell or taste, headache, fatigue, diarrhea, loss of appetite, nausea, vomiting, or muscle aches.

-
If you have traveled outside of Canada or have been in contact with someone who has tested positive for COVID-19, please self-isolate for 14 days. If you have an in-office appointment and you have any of the above symptoms, please call our office to reschedule.

-
If you have an in-office appointment, please stay in your car or outside the office. Call to let us know you are here and we will bring you into the office when the doctor is ready to see you. If you do not have a cell phone, a staff member will arrange an alternate arrival procedure with you.

-
In order to maintain physical distancing between patients in our office, the door will remain locked. Please knock on the door when you arrive and a staff member will be available to help you.

-
All visitors 12 and older must wear a medical mask when entering the office. If you do not have a medical mask, one will be provided to you on arrival. Under currently COVID guidelines, cloth masks or other face coverings do not provide enough protection. We kindly ask that you keep your masks on until you are outside the building. Please click HERE to see how to properly wear a mask.

-
When you enter the office, we encourage visitors to sanitize their hands. Hand sanitizers are available at the front desk and in all exam rooms. Please click HERE to see proper hand hygiene techniques.

-
Please stand at least 2 meters (6 feet) away from others whenever possible.
-
Booking AppointmentsPlease call our office at 604-291-1208 to book an appointment. During COVID-19, most patients will be scheduled as a telephone consult or as a virtual visit on doxy.me. Please see our Virtual Carepage for more information. It is important to let our front desk staff know the nature of your appointment to ensure the correct amount of time can be allotted for your visit and any associated forms or paper work can be prepared for the doctor prior to your appointment. We encourage all patients to book regular folllow-up appointments ahead of time as our schedule fills up fairly quickly. We understand that emergencies arise and patients may need to be fit-in urgently. Be sure to let the staff know and we will do our best to accommodate you.
-
Preparing for Your VisitRegular office or telephone visits are scheduled for up to 10 minutes We ask patients to limit the number of concerns per visit to allow adequate time for discussion. Please do not present with a large list of concerns as it is likely they will not be able to be addressed within the allotted time. An additional visit on a different day can be booked if more time is required. We appreciate your cooperation in this regard as our goal is to remain on schedule. We try our best to be on time, but emergencies do come up throughout the day that require the doctor’s immediate attention. Please be patient if your appointment is delayed and let us know if you need to reschedule your appointment for another day if you are unable to wait until the doctor is available.
-
Appointment CancellationOur office has a 48 hour (or 2 business days) cancellation policy. Missed appointment fees for regular office visits are $50. Missed appointment fees for longer visits such as PAPs and biopsies are $100. If you need to cancel your appointment, please call the office as soon as possible to allow staff adequate time to fill the appointment spot with another patient.
-
Lab and Test ResultsPlease be advised our staff cannot give out patient lab or test results over the phone unless authorized by the doctor. Results for regular bloodwork can take between 1-5 days to complete. Medical imaging reports and other test results can take between 2-4 weeks. Specialist consult notes can take up to 2 months to complete. Keep these time frames in mind prior to booking a follow-up appointment to discuss your results. Any questions regarding patient medical results will be directed to the doctor. The doctor will determine if he needs to speak with you (in which case we will book you in for an appointment), or he will direct staff to call you back with any necessary information. Patients can register to view their labs online at My E-health. Please note sensitive tests such as HIV and Hepatitis are sent to BCCDC and will not be accessible via My E-health.
